This event is taking place on Unceded x?m??k??y??m, s?l?ilw?ta??, S?wx?wú7mesh territories, where we work in decolonial solidarity with the stewards of these lands.

In 2017, Black Lives Matter Vancouver hosted the inaugural March on Pride. It was a march, a gathering, a celebration, a vigil and a protest on the Unceded ancestral Territories of the x?m??k??y??m, S?wx?wú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh, occupied by what is currently known as Vancouver. It honoured and recognized the lives and deaths of queer and trans people of colour, of Black activists, of Two-Spirit people, of sex workers, of communities experiencing ongoing police violence and state-sanctioned systemic brutality.

On July 21st, 2018, we march again. We continue the work of liberation and decolonization; we resist pinkwashing, homonationalism and the glorification of inherently violent policing in pride. We affirm, celebrate and uplift queer and trans people of colour and Two-Spirit people. We remember and mourn Amia Tyrae Berryman, Tonya Harvey, Celine Walker and so many other trans women of colour murdered in North America in the past year.

This march is for everyone. This march will centre and celebrate queer, trans and Two-Spirit people of colour and will be organized by Black folks working in solidarity with Black and Indigenous resistance on Turtle Island. We’re making this the year of the QTIPoC!

? This march centres LGBTQ2S people of colour. We ask allies to be mindful of how they navigate the space. Support, volunteer, step back, call in.

? Educate yourself on why this event is important before asking Black folks to do that emotional labour for you.
